Whether it’s 3pm or 3am, being on the frontlines with patients for the first time can be nerve-wracking! The Getting Through the Day and Getting Through the Night classes provide valuable guidance to help you transition from being a student to a working veterinarian.
Getting Through the Night CE course runs each summer, and Getting Through the Day CE course runs each Fall. Make sure you’re signed up for VIN Foundation updates to be notified.

Getting Through the Night has been renamed ER Where You Are. For 2024, we have mixed things up a bit, with the complexity of cases and conditions increasing across the 3 main sections of the course. As a rough guide, we have assembled them into “day,” “swing,” and “night” shifts, correlating to cases that might be handled by competent GP staff initially, ER staff, and then ICU-level care (although these are just rough guidelines, and there is considerable overlap).

Getting Through the Day helps new and recent grads looking for practical guidance as you venture into the unpredictable world of small animal general practice. It may also serve as a review for more experienced practitioners or as an introduction for those transitioning from other practice areas.
